Why you shouldn’t feel guilty about enjoying ‘dumb’ television shows and films- especially right now

There are a lot of films or television series that often get labelled ‘dumb’, or ‘stupid’, or ‘boring’. They’re the sorts of television shows or movies that are written to be fun and perhaps don’t feature the most intriguing storylines, or the best action sequences; or they’re ‘trashy’ reality shows that are ridiculously over-the-top at the time. They’re also often the sorts of things we don’t like admitting we like, for fear of backlash from other people. But here’s the thing; we shouldn’t feel guilty about enjoying these sorts of television shows or films. And particularly not right now, with Covid-19 sweeping across the world. The reason for that is simple; sometimes we just need to watch something that feels comforting. Something that requires very little concentration, perhaps, or simply makes us laugh at how dumb it is. Not everything we watch has to be high-brow television, or action-packed blockbusters, and given the world’s current situation, sometimes we need to take a

5 reasons to watch Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist

If, like me, you’re looking for some new things to watch while trapped in quarantine, perhaps you should look to Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist . The NBC show airs in the UK on Wednesdays on E4, and it’s certainly a show that’s going to make these difficult days a little easier to cope with. So, I’ve pulled together five non-spoiler reasons to watch. 1. Rose Tyler: The Dimension Cannon | Big Finish | Review If you’re familiar with the worlds of Doctor Who , then it’s highly likely you’re familiar with Big Finish. And if you’re familiar with Big Finish, then there’s a good chance you’re aware of Rose Tyler: The Dimension Cannon . Released last September, these four audio adventures featuring Billie Piper as Rose Tyler focus on Rose’s travels between the 2006 and 2008 series of the BBC show. Having been tricked by the Doctor (then David Tennant) into going to a parallel universe in order to stay safe, Rose eventually returned in series four to warn the Doctor of one very specific danger: the stars are going out. These audios focus on that aspect of Rose’s life in the other universe, giving us a glimpse into the early days of the dimension cannon she eventually uses to return to the Doctor’s side. All four adventures depict a different, often apocalyptic world that Rose and her sometimes-companion Clive (Mark Benton), along
